Hi there,
I’m writing with a couple small bits of news —
First, I wanted to let you know about a personal essay I just wrote, called Navigating Stuckness.
For the past year or so, I’ve been feeling pretty stuck creatively, and unsure about what to do next. Jay Allison asked me to write a “Manifesto” for his website, Transom, communicating my approach to storytelling. I always think of manifestos as being these bold and confident documents, written by radicals and revolutionaries in singular moments of clarity. So it was strange to be asked to write one during one of the cloudiest times of my life. So I decided to write my manifesto about being stuck, about how that feels, and about different ways I’ve tried to get unstuck. I also made some paintings to accompany the essay. You can see all that here: http://transom.org/?p=41667
Second, I made a simple redesign of my website. It’s nothing fancy, but feels a bit better to me: http://number27.org
I hope you’re doing well, wherever you are.
Thanks for following along.
Jonathan
