Hey folks,
I’d like to tell you about a new project I’m releasing today. It’s an interactive documentary about the private lives of nine women who make lesbian porn. It’s called I Love Your Work.
It’s a bit racier than things I’ve made in the past, but it’s handled with a lot of sensitivity, and I think it’s a really intimate and revealing portrait of a community that’s usually forced to reside in the shadows. Especially with all the recent talk about marriage equality, this feels like a timely and useful glimpse into the actual lives of some real-world lesbian couples.
Here’s how it worked. For 10 consecutive days, I spent 24 hours with each woman, taking 10-second video clips every five minutes, filming whatever was happening. The project contains 2,202 of these 10-second clips (around six hours of footage), and I built an interactive environment for browsing through all that material.
As an experiment, the full website is limited to just 10 viewers per day, and tickets cost $10 each. Since it could sell out for a long time pretty quickly, the website might become difficult to see — in stark contrast to the free, instant, and limitless qualities typical of Internet porn.
If you’re interested in seeing the project, you can reserve a ticket (and see a trailer) here: http://iloveyourwork.net
There’s also a premium package available for $300, which includes three instant-access tickets, and a beautiful limited-edition archival print, signed and numbered by hand.
I hope you spread this far and wide!
Happy spring!
XOXO!
